Blinding Light or Guiding Light

Reference: II Corinthians 4:1-18

When we think of blindness, we usually think of darkness. However, light also can have a blinding effect. Satan, who operates a kingdom of darkness (Colossians 1:13), certainly tries to keep people away from the truth of Christ through many evil, carnal influences. Yet, Satan is also busy in the business of religion, philosophy, sciences and culture. Read Revelation 18 to get some of the scope of his one-world empire that he, through the Antichrist, will establish on earth. In II Corinthians 4:3-6 we have a comparison of Satan's blinding light and God's guiding light through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Blinding Light – II Corinthians 4:3-4

Satan comes as an "angel of light" with another gospel, another Jesus, and other ministers of righteousness (II Corinthians 11:1-4, 13-15 cp. Colossians 2:6-8; Galatians 1:6-9).

Guiding Light – II Corinthians 4:5-6

•  Don't block that light with personal agendas or drawing undo attention to ourselves (II Corinthians 4:5 cp. John 7:16-18; 3:25-36; I Corinthians 2:1-5; 3:1-7).

•  Follow the glorious light of Jesus Christ and shine that light to others (II Corinthians 4:6 cp. John 8:1-12; Matthew 5:14-16; Ephesians 5:8-16; Philippians 2:14-16; I Peter 2:9).
