Reference: Isaiah 52:13-53:12

In Isaiah 53:1-2 there is one referred to as "the arm of the Lord." He will be a special servant of the LORD (Isaiah 52:13-15), yet He will be undesirable to the people to whom He was sent. The passage also reveals that a "report" or testimony concerning Him will not be believed by many (note how Isaiah identifies with the LORD's message, saying "our report" cp. Isaiah 6:8). The entire Old Testament is filled with reports or prophecies concerning the Messiah (Luke 24:4448; John 5:37-47; I John 5:10). The book of Isaiah is especially rich in these reports of the Messiah (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6-7; 11:1-5; 32:1-5; 40:1-5; 61:1-3). Probably one of the most detailed prophesies of Messiah is our starting text. It is one of four "Servant Songs" regarding the Messiah (See Isaiah 42:1-9; 49:1-6; 50:4-11; 52:13 - 53:12). These Scriptures help us understand the reliability of Scripture and the sureness that Jesus Christ is the Son of God: The Messiah (Isaiah 42:9). Examine Isaiah 53 carefully and you will find many fulfillments in the New Testament (Matthew 8:16-17; Mark 15:27-28; Luke 22:37; Acts 8:26-35).

This amazing "report" was and still continues to be unbelieved by many (John 12:37-38 cp. 1:10-11). Yet, those who do believe have a life-changing experience (John 1:12-13). The "report" that "the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world" (I John 4:14) is still being given today through the preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (I Corinthians 15:1-4; II Corinthians 5:17-21; 2:14-17). Will you believe? Will you pass on the "report"?
