Let's find terms that show how we can effectively minister God's Word to each other.
Note: The Strong's numbering system will be used so that word studies can be conducted with the Strong's Concordance, Vine's Expository Dictionary of New Testament Words or any other reference books that use the same numbering system.
1. Fellowship (Strong # 2841, 2842)
• The Greek word = "to share in common;" "communion." It is like having a partnership with mutual goals, values, activities and benefits.
• The Word of God puts us in fellowship with God. (Father, Son & Holy Spirit: see John 5:24; 6:33; 8:30-32,47; 14:1-6, 15-26)
• The Word of God also puts us in fellowship with other believers. (John 17:14-21; I John 1:1-4,7; I Peter 1:22-25; 2:1-5; Philippians 1:3-11; I Thessalonians 1:5-10; 2:13-14; Romans 1:5-16; 15:1-14)
The fellowship of the church is a partnership of mutual care and mission. (Acts 2:41-42; I Corinthians 12:25-27; Ephesians 3:21; Philippians 2:1-4)
• The church should be an environment of shepherding the sheep. (John 10:1-10; Acts 20:28; I Peter 5:1-5; Jeremiah 33:12 cp. Hebrews 10:22-25)
• The church should be an environment of love and worship. (Romans 15:1-7; Ephesians 5:1-2,18-21; Colossians 3:12-17).
