Reference: Psalm 27:1-3

Fear and insecurity drain us and can paralyze us. Desire can distract us or completely absorb us. At the same time, when properly directed, desire can empower us. In this world there are many forms of escape from reality: coping mechanisms to supposedly survive stress and boredom. A relationship with Christ removes fear and insecurity. A relationship with Christ gives us a way to focus our desires, so that our lives are powerful, joyful and meaningful. A relationship with Christ provides a way to escape into reality: to deliver us from the deceptions and intimidations of the world. Let’s see how Psalm 27 helps us in three ways to appreciate and make full use of our relationship with Christ.

He's My Confidence — Psalm 27:1-3

  • “Light” drives away fears, doubts and darkness (Psalm 97:11; Ephesians 5:8-21; I John 1:5-10).
  • “Salvation” brings deliverance (Psalm 56:9-13; II Corinthians 1:10; Galatians 1:3-4; I John 5:4-5).
  • “Strength” causes us to be a positive influence, rather than a “victim” (Psalm 18:28-35; Matthew 5:13-16; Ephesians 3:14-19; II Timothy 1:6-12).
  • Psalm 27:10 – Our relationship with Christ is greater than all human relationships (Isaiah 49:13-16).
  • Psalm 27:13 – Never give up! (Luke 18:1-8).
  • Consider Christ – Philippians 1:6; 3:3; 4:6-9, 11, 13, 19.
